Motivation
Automated Cloud Advisor is an extensible tool that aims at facilitating cost optimization in AWS by collecting data for resources that are underutilized. Additionally, this serves as an excellent learning tool for new DevOps/Cloud engineers who wish to dive into automation within AWS.
The tool is deployed as a set of CloudFormation stacks that comprise the data collection, with visualizations available in a Kibana dashboard.

Experiencing issues while using the Automated Cloud Advisor? Here are some troubleshooting tips that can help:
- Check the AWS permissions: Ensure you have the required permissions to access the resources you’re trying to optimize.
- CloudFormation Stacks: If stacks fail to deploy, review the CloudFormation events to identify any errors in the setup.
- Data Visualization: If the Kibana dashboard isn’t displaying data, verify that the data collection process is running as expected.
