Are you looking to have your platform listed on The Federation? This guide will walk you through the simple steps you need to take to ensure your project is integrated with various protocols, including ActivityPub, Matrix, Diaspora, and OStatus.
Prerequisites
- Your platform needs to implement the .well-known NodeInfo endpoint.
- If you have a Matrix instance, be aware that they are scraped with a dedicated scraper since they currently lack generic metadata support.
How to Get Your Platform Listed
Once you have implemented the necessary endpoint, follow these instructions:
- Register your node: Visit this link to register your node.
- If registration is successful, congratulations! You’re officially listed!
Updating Existing Platform Information
If you need to update your platform’s information or if your platform is new, please raise an issue with the following details:
- URL to your code
- Description of your platform
- Display name
- Code license
- Icon (can be any size, currently only 16px size is used)
- URL to your installation guide
- Tagline (a one-sentence marketing line)
- URL to the official website
If your platform is closed source, you can omit the link to your code and installation guide. The tagline is essential; it should succinctly convey what your platform is about.
Code of Conduct
It’s vital to have a humane code of conduct in place for your platform. This ensures a safe and welcoming environment for all users. If your site is found to host harmful content, it will be blocked from listing. Harmful content includes, but is not limited to, malware, abusive images, and climate denialism. Please report any violations to the site admins.
